What did we as artists, ever do before the internet in order to show, market and advertise our works? We manhandled our portfolios, frames, tables and assorted paraphenalia around to local markets, local showings and galleries and hoped for a sale of at least one piece to cover our costs.
That works for some and for a while but eventually frustration sets in and we shy away from getting out and 'pounding the pavement' don't we? We will always have to have a physical presence at such events but we also need a 'cyber' presence to attract a larger audience and potential customer base.
The old cliche by the 'Yellow Pages' people said ... "
Let your fingers do the walking". That is even more true today but not through written media such as phonebooks but through
visual, interactive media such as the web.
I am no expert on marketing art nor am I a long-time artist (serious art only for the last 10 years) but I am part of the
'cyber generation' (not in age but mind) in terms of getting information about myself and my art out to the world.
Cyber space can be accessed through websites, social media and blogs and forums besides straighforward searches using Search Engines.
Hmmm ...
I sense a need for a workshop on such topics as websites, social media and blogs and would love to do one for FASM members.
What do members want and are you open to getting into 'space'???
